FAQ

All of the books that I sell are secondhand - meaning, if you purchase one from me, you will not be the first owner. Books are thrifted, or from my own home library that my children have outgrown. I never resell books that we have received for free - Little Free Libraries, Imagination Library, or other free resources. I truly see the value in these programs and love that they help families create home libraries - that's my mission too. 

Book prices are based on several factors including condition, age, popularity, price online for a copy in similar condition, and price when purchased by Merry Babe Books. I do my best to price books fairly and I truly appreciate your business! 

Some of my buttons are marked with a sticker on the back to show that they are "imperfect" and therefore discounted.  I consider a button imperfect if it doesn't meet my quality standards. Usually this means that I didn't cut the circle quite wide enough and you can see a little of the metal backing along the edges. Still cute! Still safe to wear!

You can definitely email me or message me on Instagram to inquire about a certain book. If I don't have it, I'm happy to keep an eye out. 

However, due to the unpredictable nature of thrifting, specific requests can be tough! Especially if they are time-sensitive. 

Requests that I LOVE include ... Do you have any books about [certain topic]? Any books by [author] or similar authors? Any books for this reading level? Any books for this age/special interest/occasion? These requests allow for much more discovery - I can likely get you set up with something that day!

I know that books can be very sentimental - especially the books our kids once loved. I appreciate your trust in me and I would love to assist in getting your books to their next home. 

If you have a book collection of any size that you are hoping to sell all together, I would love to take a look and make you an offer. 

I'm looking for books that are in very good condition (better condition = better offer for you). I do like to "rescue" damaged books to salvage their art, so I will consider looking at books in less desirable condition, but they need to be clean. No funky smells. No mystery stains or sticky things. Nothing that has been stored in non-climate controlled spaces like attics or garages. Books should be somewhat organized and ready for viewing. (Ex: on a shelf, or placed with care in a box or bag. No piles on the floor please!) 

You can email me with any pictures or any relevant information about your collection. (Ex: approximate number of books, some highlights of the collection) Please be sure to include your approximate location (I can travel around Winston-Salem and the surrounding area) and propose options for dates/times that I could come and see the books. If you already have a price in mind for me to consider, you can include that as well.
